Agronomic generation of new biofortified SUPERFOODS on the farm. Application of biotechnological solution microalgae-microorganism consortia. Project of the National Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, funded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD). CSIC Principal Investigator IATA-CSIC: Prof. Yolanda Sanz; Coordinators: ASAJA
The aim of this project is to solve the nutritional impoverishment in macro and micronutrients of commonly consumed foods suffered by both farmers and consumers, which hinders the intake of the recommended amounts of nutrients to maintain a healthy daily diet.
Objectives
- Increase the mineral, organic and microbiological wealth necessary so that our crops have the necessary elements to convert them into enriched foods.
- Increase the total gross and net productivity of the fortified products obtained.
- Increase real sustainability applied to the reduction of GHG emissions.
- Recover the natural capacity of our soils for mineralization, and continuous generation of organic matter and its immediate availability for the crops, recovering the soil microbiome.
- Produce products with high added value that imply an improvement in the income of our producers
Impact
- Improvement of the nutritional quality of final products
- Production of quality food in a sustainable way
- Health impact and consumer acceptance
