Network for Human Microbiota Applied to Health – MidAS. Project financed by the ministry of Science and Innovation. Coordinator: Ana Ramirez de Molina from IMDEA FOOD. Principial Investigator from IATA-CSIC: Yolanda Sanz.

The Thematic Network on Human Microbiota Applied to Health – MIdAS will be created in order to strengthen human microbiota research in Spain. The main objective of the thematic network is to bring together the Spanish scientific community with shared interests in the multidisciplinary study and development of innovative solutions related to the microbiota in nutrition and health.

Objectives

  • Create a compendium of national standard operating procedures and good practice guidelines on sample handling and data exploitation.
  • Analyse and catalogue the available national scientific and technical infrastructure.
  • To combat disinformation and “bad” information by making the knowledge and achievements of each of the research groups belonging to the MIdAS network available to the public.

Impact

  • The structuring of a multidisciplinary critical mass of researchers from public institutions in Spain investigating in microbiota applied to nutrition and health.
  • Improving the practice and quality of research in this field.
