Advanced tools for integration and synergistic interconnection of microbiomes in resilient food systems – TRIBIOME. European Union Horizon Europe Programme (Grant agreement nº 101084485), 2023 – 2027. Principal Investigator of CSIC: Prof. Yolanda Sanz
The aim of this project is to progress, aligned with the Green Deal and Farm2Fork Framework strategies, deepening the knowledge of the soil/plant/animal and human microbiomes as well as their interrelationships and interconnections, with the ultimate goal of improving the food production and the nutritional quality.
Objectives
- Modelling soil microbiomes dynamics to improve crop (wheat) quality and productivity
- Demonstrate and validate the new microbiome modulating tools to improve primary production
- Setting up a robust and reliable interconnection between plant, animal and human microbiomes that contributes to sustainable healthy nutrition.
- Ensuring circularity and climate change adaptation through valorisation processes
- Addressing an innovative multi-stakeholder approach for agri-food sustainability through decision support network
Impact
- Promotion of the production and consumption of plant-based food to ensure safety and high nutritional quality for both animals and humans.
- Reduced use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers leading to reduction of emissions of CO2 and CH4 and leading to biodiversity preservation
